Author McKay Jenkins will visit Hathaway Brown School on November 18 and 19 to present and discuss his book "What's Gotten Into Us?"

The evening presentation on Tuesday, November 18 is open to the public and will take place from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Anne Cutter Coburn Reception Room.   Jenkins will address the entire upper school student body at an assembly earlier in the day and will meet with some of  the wellness classes on Wednesday, November 19.

We hear more and more about the potential impacts on our own bodies and the bodies of our children of everything from plastics and pesticides to flame retardants and fragrances.  What are we exposed to without even realizing it, and what can we do in our own homes and lives to reduce this exposure? McKay Jenkins, author of What's Gotten into Us?: Staying Healthy in a Toxic World (2011) and co-author of Poison Spring: The Secret History of Pollution and the EPA (2014), will discuss these issues.  After a health scare of his own, Jenkins set out to understand the health consequences of chemicals that are found in products we use every day and to find ways to decontaminate his daily life.  Jenkins will share his story and the findings from his research, as well as tips for ways to get toxins out of your home.
