Hathaway Brown's International Public Policy Forum team of Nitya Thakore '16, Aarathi Sahadevan '16 and Lina Ghosh '17, has made it to the Elite 8 in international competition after a 2-1 decision over Lamar High School from Houston, Texas. These students will now travel to New York City from April 11-13 to compete live against the other quarterfinalists in front of an incredibly distinguished panel of judges. If the HB makes it to the semifinals, their debate will be broadcast live at www.ippfdeabte.com beginning at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 12.

They will be matched up against Taipai American School from Taiwan. HB will continue to debate both sides of the resolution: "Resolved: As a last resort, unilateral military force is justified to minimize nuclear weapons proliferation."

IPPF is an international competition of “written debate” sponsored by the Bickel and Brewer law firm and New York University. Teams from 34 states and 29 countries wrote preliminary round essays to qualify. HB is one of three schools in the world and one of only two in the US to make the top 8 in this international competition in back to back years. Congratulations to these girls on this prestigious accomplishment.
