Hathaway Brown is pleased to announce that the following students have earned national recognition in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2015. Emily Imka '15 (Silver Medal for Painting; Silver Medal and American Voices Medal for Poetry), Lauren Kahn '15 (Gold Medal for Jewelry), Becca Lambright '15 (Gold Medal for Poetry; Silver Medal for Personal Essay/Memoir); Isabella Nilsson '16 (Gold Medal for Short Story), and Nitya Thakore '16 (Silver Medal for Personal Essay/Memoir).
These students have been identified by panels of creative professionals as the most talented young artists and writers in the nation. This year, 300,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students in grades 7-12. Only the top 1% were recognized at the national level. All of the above-named students have been invited to attend a ceremony at the world-famous Carnegie Hall on Thursday, June 11, 2015.
Since 1923, The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized teenagers from across the country. By winning a Scholastic Art & Writing Award, these HB students join a legacy of celebrated authors and artists including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, John Currin, and Lena Dunham.
Congratulations to these gifted writers and artists! For more information about the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, please visit the program's official website.
