Just Announced!

The HBPA & Young Writers and Artists Festival Present Dar Williams

Through the generosity of the Hathaway Brown Parent Association and a generous donor, national recording artist and activist Dar Williams will be coming to HB on Thursday, October 30, to perform, connect with students, and conduct a songwriting workshop for Upper School girls.

All members of the HB community are invited to see Dar's performance in the HB Atrium at 10 a.m. She will sing a thirty minute set including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and the Primary school favorite, "The Babysitter's Here." Parents and alumnae are encouraged to arrive early to ensure a decent view of the concert.

Following her performance, Dar will speak with HB students about finding their voices and being unconventional during a "Real Conversations with Real People" discussion. She will also conduct a songwriting workshop with Upper School students. Those in grades 9-12 who wish to participate in the songwriting workshop must contact Upper School Choral Director Laura Webster to register

About Dar Williams:

An idiosyncratic songwriter who writes folk songs from a unique, often insightful perspective, Dar's music has been compared to that of Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, but with a few acidic and at times hilarious twists. Since her debut in 1993, Williams has recorded nine studio albums including 2012's Time of the Gods, written two children's books, and given talks to aspiring musicians and artists around the country.
