October 29: Writers Forum: Giving Life to Thought

Join us on campus on Wednesday, October 29, for a very special event. For the past two years, the Young Writers and Artists Festival has been a transformative creative experience for Upper and Middle school girls.

This year, we are pleased to offer a version of that experience for parents and the community. We hope that you'll consider attending and bringing someone along. You'll have the opportunity to hear from and interact with some of the writers who have enjoyed teaching writing workshops in recent years for HB girls.

Following a panel talk, attendees will be able to participate in three rounds of breakout sessions that offer the opportunity to talk with the writers in small settings. More details are outlined below.

Writers Forum: Giving Life to Thought

Wednesday, October 29, 6:30-9:00 pm.

Following the opening panel, participants may attend three additional 20-minute breakout sessions with an individual writer:

  • Alexandra Fuller
    Author of Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, and its prequel the New York Times bestselling Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness, and Leaving Before the Rains Come, which will be published in January 2015

  • Michael Dirda
    Pulitzer Prize-winning book critic of the Washington Post and author of An Open Book: Coming of Age in the Heartland and Book by Book: Notes on the Reading Life

  • Wes Davis
    Former professor of English at Yale University and author of The Ariadne Objective: The Underground War to Rescue Crete from the Nazis

  • David Giffels
    Author of The Hard Way on Purpose and All the Way Home: Building a Family in a Falling-Down House

  • Jamaal May
    Beatrice Hawley Award-winning poet and author of Hum

  • Over the Rhine
    Ohio-based folk band with albums including Meet Me At The Edge of the World and The Long Surrender

Valet parking is available and light refreshments will be provided. This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and registration is required.
