On Wednesday, August 27, Hathaway Brown will officially kick off the 2014-15 school year with the arrival of the Upper School students. The day will begin with the annual Convocation ceremony, which includes a procession of the Upper School's students and faculty, accompanied by bagpipes. The Upper School students will be joined by the Prime and Middle School students on Thursday, August 28, with the Early Childhood Program beginning Tuesday, September 2.
While the school year has yet to begin, HB's students and faculty are already hard at work.
Fall sports season is already underway and the Blazers golf, tennis, field hockey and soccer programs have played several scrimmages and games. To view a complete schedule of all HB's athletics events visit www.hb.edu/Athletics_Calendar.
A number of HB students have been participating in intensive dance or vocal arts courses as well. The vocal arts students' culminating performance will take place at Cleveland's famed jazz venue, Nighttown, this Friday, August 22, at 7:00 p.m. Each student will be performing one contemporary song and one jazz standard. For more information about the event please contact Upper School Choral Director Laura Webster at lwebster@hb.edu
New this year, HB teachers will incorporate the Haiku learning management system into their classrooms. Haiku provides teachers with a dynamic platform that is easy to use for students. Staff members have been training to make the most out of this powerful new system. To learn more about Haiku visit www.haikulearning.com
Parents can also get ready for the school year and join in the celebration. The Brown Bag will be hosting its annual back-to-school sale August 21-August 29.
