On March 8, sophomore Isabel Weil '16 competed in the 9th Annual "Chinese Bridge" US High School Student Chinese Speech Contest, finishing third in a field of 24 competitors. The program was held at the Confucius Institute of University of Massachusetts Boston.
To qualify for the contest, students must submit a 3-4 minute audio file of their speech as well as English and Chinese scripts. Qualifiers get the opportunity to present their speeches to a panel of judges and take questions regarding their speech afterwards.
HB teacher Elaine Hu notes Isabel's achievement is the result of "oustandingly hard work" on the language in less than two years' time.
Isabel is the fourth HB girl in as many years to qualify for the competition.
Congratulations to Isabel on this impressive achievement!
