Congratulations to the nine members of the Class of 2014 who recently have received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise, based on their Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test scores. Commended Students placed among the top three percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2014 competition by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
This year's National Merit Commended Students are:
Sarah Adler, Nicole Chesnokov, Caroline Jones, Yingchun Li, Margaret Lowenthal, Susie Min, Alison Nordell, Jessica Sher, and Yunlu Sun.
Maggie Lowenthal additionally was named a National Achievement Semifinalist, an honor awarded to only 1,600 Black American high school seniors. She will continue in the competition and will be considered for one of the 800 Achievement Scholarships worth about $2.5 million being offered in the spring by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Congratulations to all of these HB scholars!
