Bill Evans Dance Company in Concert
7:30 p.m.
The Ahuja Auditorium
The Bill Evans Dance Company – unique in its blend of modern dance and rhythm tap – has performed in all 50 states and in such prestigious venues as the Kennedy Center and many national and international festivals. A Guggenheim Fellow, Evans has received numerous honors from the National Endowment for the Arts, and Lifetime Achievement Awards from Dance Teacher magazine and the National Dance Education Organization. Anna Kisselgoff of The New York Times states that Bill Evans “has a characteristic fluency in his choreography that enables him to work in a variety of moods." And according to Walter Terry of Saturday Review, he’s “one of the best choreographic forces to touch the American dance scene."
Evans will conduct a Master Class in modern dance technique at Hathaway Brown on Thursday, September 20, from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. The class is open to the general public and will be followed by a reception and signing of Evans’ book, “Reminiscences of a Dancing Man: a Photographic Journey of a Life in Dance.” The book will be available for purchase both Thursday and Friday at a cost of $38. General admission for the September 21 dance concert is $10. Register at www.hb.edu/evans.
